Kushiel
Ok, I just finished Kashiel's Dart. I know, I know, it usually takes my a day and a half max to get through a book. But for some reason this one dragged in the beginning for me. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for heavy descriptions and intrigue when I picked it up. Not too say that it wasn't well written. On the contrary it was excellent...But it's hard to get into the intrigue with a two year old bouncing on the couch next to me. I finished the second half of the book last night and today though :)
On a side note...(quick Quiz) So according to my earlier stated theory on the mythos behind the book...March 21st post The Merovigians were the society in the books, or the descendants of...Anyone else heard of a Merovigian lately???? And what does that have to do with the matrix?

And the hockey Gods turn away
I admit it, it's all our fault :(
We didn't build our alter to the hockey gods this year. And we passed on the sacrificing children bit as well. But apparently getting on our knees and praying during the last minute of the 3rd period paid off (true Story). Somebody up there heard our plea with 5 seconds to go.
But then our faith faltered...We yelled and jumped up and down for a bit, and then went for a drink. We figured it was safe to abandon our post..."That should give them the kick they needed" we thought.
Sorry everybody. Maybe next year we'll try the alter thing.

..3..2..1..And We're Live!
Hi folks, long time no see. We had a great week long holiday here. I hope you're week was good as well :)
A quick synopsis;
Dan built the deck, and it looks really nice. He also bought me patio furniture, and a new BBQ. The backyard has been leveled (sort of) and lowered by like 7 inches to make room for topsoil and turf. We don't get our lawn until the 27th :( So the party in the backyard will probably be put off until next month. However, this week was so worth it :) It pretty much doubles the size of our main floor (hosting space) when it's all said and done.
Liam has been sick and miserable for a good part of the week. First it was a cold, and then an ear infection (poor kid) and now it's Daddy withdrawal...I'm going to have to undo a lot of bad habits learnt over the last week, as Dan has been letting him do stuff that he normally wouldn't get away with. His sleeping schedule is out of wack as well.
Teresa is Teresa...Happy, cute, curious, and VERY mobile. Turn your back for a second and she's gone. I've stopped calling her ducky and started humming the "Jaws" theme whenever she starts barreling towards the cats. It's only going to get better from here ;)
I've come to a decision on vampire, thanks to everyone who has shown interest. I am going to send out some emails today explaining my decision.
And that's it for now..Liam is calling for me from upstairs.

Scott says I'm such a geek for doing this
Read Thursday's Child for an explanation :)
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
"Each set of skills can be enhanced as the character matures and gains experience within Diablo ii and the expansion set"
Scott also says that it's a good thing nobody knows that I'm listening to "B*re N*ked Ladies" while I write this...Apparently that takes my geekiness to a whole other level...
(I wonder if this will get picked up by the porn filters as well...)
Poor Stacy can't view my site anymore, because his computer at work filters it. Sometime soon I'm going to edit all of my posts with "*" for vowels in the offending words...Hopefully that'll fix it :)

Brief Hiatus
Hi folks! As you know, Dan has the week off so he can build me a deck. Since all of my time is being spent waiting on him hand and foot ;) I won't be posting this week...Tune in next week ( next Monday the non-holiday ) and I'll fill you in on what our BBQ and feasting schedule will look like this summer :)
Thanks Stacy for helping us out on Friday, you really helped to get things moving :)

Painting contest
So I had Randy (there's that muse again) take pictures of my miniatures on game night so I could send in to enter the Reaper Miniatures painting contest. I had problems uploading the pictures, because they were to big, and in the meantime there were a few more entrants...
I came to the conclusion that I haven't a snowball chance in Hades. Not saying that my stuff isn't pretty to look at ;) But some of this stuff is absolutely amazing! I'd go so far as to equate looking at it with eating chocolate or having great s*x.
So instead I went looking for a tutorial on painting to see what else I need to do. I'll get there yet !

:) 101
This one is for my Mom. Who mentioned to me last night that she didn't have the option on her computer to make the little smilies in the comments section ;) Can't blame her for not knowing geek speak, she's does other things all day besides play on the computer...
The basics
:) ... Smile (turn your persective sideways, two eyes and a mouth, this is done with 'colon' and 'right bracket')
:( ... Frown
;) ... Wink
:0) ... goofy looking smily (but doesn't translate in the comments section I don't think)
Lingo basics
LOL ... laugh out loud (when you read something that was funny to you, you respond with this one)
ROFLMAO ... Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off (dito the above, but more so)
IMO ... In my opinion
IMHO ... In my humble opinion
ASAP ... As soon as possible (you probably aready know that one)
PDQ ... Dans favorite, Pretty Damn Quick
Anyone reading this have anything to add to my list?

S*x vs Gaming
So the question on the board is...Does Dan get as many bl*wj*bs as I say he does? In any given gaming session I claim at least two instances where I should get preferential treatment due to *ral s*x. We will now delve into the psychological reasons for such a statement.
1) Letting off steam, and looking for attention...I'm a terrible flirt and an exibiti*nist when I drink, which hasn't been happening a lot lately. Not to mention when I did get drunk last (my Birthday) Scott was around. It's hard to embarrass myself with my younger brother in the bar. By claiming outrageous things, I get a small dose of the attention I get while I'm drinking. Not to mention I can embarrass Scott by talking about s*x ;) It doesn't help that I'm gaming with my "fan club" who have seen my b**bs more often then they'll likely admit.
2) I'm gaming with a group of boys. I'm more likely to regress to my tom-boy status of childhood if I don't have to worry about another girl in the room. Talking about bl*wj*bs, and asking for D.P.'s (Dr. Pepper's) are par for the course.
3) My upbringing : I'm not the only exibiti*nist in my family. In fact I come from an established line of them. In my family, it's not a party unless somebody is mortally embarrassed...Even if it means embarrassing yourself!
So really folks, I'm pretty tame during game nights, and much tamer in general since parenthood. If I talk about bl*wj*bs in front of you, it just means that I'm having fun and am comfortable with the group.
But if you'd rather I acted like a lady, I could cross my hands quietly in my lap, and get really upset when you f*rt...
And no Dan doesn't get that many B.J.'s. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good story ;)
Ooh! Look at all the s*x words I used in this post! My traffic should skyrocket!

All right already..
Sorry I'm late folks, I've had a busy morning.
More on Vampire
A few rules to put in place now that I've done a little work.
1) The campaign is set in independent Vancouver...
Mostly because I have an idea of what it looks like and I've got the book. Don't bother reading it folks, the NPC's are all different ;)
2) Character creation...
Everyone takes the mentor merit...And as far as generation is concerned, I'll give you 10th gen for free. If you don't want to be 10th then that's fine, but you will be spending your points as per normal (from 12th level)
3) I have room in this campaign for 4 or 5 people. So, the deal is that if a character dies (I don't kill players, they kill themselves) they will be replaced by someone who didn't get in. Really reduces the amount of character flipping :)
4) Some background...Vancouver is a structure-less city. There is a Prince, but mostly he's just there to represent the city when visitors stop by...Your mentors have been dealing with a series of problems in recent years, and have decided to call an alliance/truce until they figure out what's at the bottom of it. A committee has been formed of their prized childer (you) to deal with the problem.

What kind of sects do you like?
So I had this great dream last night, which managed to resolve itself in between hitting snooze this morning. It gave me some big ideas for a Vampire campaign *evil grin*
I've no idea how I could manage it, as Scott most likely wouldn't play, and his room is the gaming room. But I'm going to start plotting anyways. Mwa-ha-ha. So here's to a little research...
1. Who would be interested?
2. If you are interested, which of the sects do you like? (Camerilla, Sabbat, Anarch, other)
3. What clan would you play?
Also keep in mind, that I refuse to storytell for an all-male campaign. If you can convince a girl to play, I'll give out a few extra dot's or something ;)

I'm gonna get in trouble for this one...
So this morning I pick up the newspaper and completely ignore the front page article on terrorists blowing themselves up, because frankly that stuff scares the begezus out of me. Instead I read how the Crystal Gardens are booming in business right now, but they are still getting shut down. Of course my biggest issue with this is that it's another example of our government completely ignoring the people of this Provence and carrying on their merry ways to raping us for every cent. (whew! Run-on sentence!) This is all at the expense of our culture, tourism, health care, human rights, education, jobs, etc, etc. I know there are a lot of flaws in that statement, but I've a point to get to, so I'm generalizing.
The difference between Canada and the US, is that in the US the government officials respect the people they govern, at least superficially. If they don't pay attention to what pots they dip their fingers into, a looney toon with a gun comes along and shoots them. BANG! And the next politician is much more careful to listen to the peoples concerns and not screw them around as much.
In Canada we don't do this, apparently because we're more civilized or something. Personally I think it's because the US people have a much more ingrained sense of nationality then we do. A government of the people, for the people. That says it right there. If the government isn't living up to that promise, it gets removed. I'm not saying that we should kill all of our politicians and start over...That would be uncivilized...But we need some new sort of checks and balances in our system, because apparently the ones the we have now don't work.
Maybe that's why we in Canada don't sing the national anthem in school anymore?

Misogynists ?
Think about it...How many Disney cartoons can you come up with in which the main character's mother was still around? In how many of them does the Mom die, or is dead already? Just plain old absent? I can think of very few exceptions...101 Dalmations, Treasure Planet, Aristocats...Where the Mom was present and not taken forcefully out of the picture. Anyone else think of any?
On a completely un-related subject, Jackie has her blog up and running :) It's on the sidebar as well, as Thursday's Child.

Rentals
Randy sent out this website yesterday, but I thought that I'd post it. Dan and I don't have cable, but we also don't rent near enough movies either. The few movies that I've actually seen that are mentioned on this list, I've really liked...And ask Dan what he thought of "In the Mouth of Madness" a very underrated classic if there ever was one *grin*
I feel much better today, thanks for your posts yesterday guys (and gal).
We might be losing a half-orc meatwall...Scott has had his hours shifted, so in two weeks he'll be working graveyards from Sunday-Thursday. He will talk to his boss about getting Tuesdays off instead, but he's not to optimistic about it. Don't go re-arranging your schedules quite yet, but how are people for Fridays or Saturdays? We'll let you know what the deal is ASAP :)

April Fools !
So I'm not having a great day today, for various reasons. Anyone want to cheer me up?
Jackie has given in and started a blog page...I will add the link once she's figured out what the deal is with her comments. Barring kids interference...Joe is included in that ;) , I give her 5 mins :) I'm very interested in what she will have to say, she's a very neat person.
My Grandpa is supposed to show up today, but he hasn't called to let me know when. So if I ever flake-out on you guys, please realize that I do come by it honestly. This is a big trend with some of my relatives.
Did I mention that I needed cheering up?
