The intreped adventurers stumbled through the portal and into the enveloping darkness, dragging along their new found companion and Spindle.
Aurora breathed a sigh of relief as her natural, living, state was returned to her. The taste of her fast, broken at a tavern earlier that hour, was still fresh on her tongue.
The brief moment of enjoyment was jarred from her as a deep steady pulse began to throb in the pit of Aurora's stomach. A beat that resonated illness and decay, that spoke of withered and deformed bodies and deranged entities writhing in chaos and drowning in dark viscous fluids. There was a tormented cacophony of death and hate. The insane cackle of the arisen.
After what seemed an eternity of such thoughts and feelings, they slowly ebbed away to hide in a quieter corner of Aurora's perception. Replaced by the subdued, but still brilliant presence of Pelor. His loving hand briefly quelled Aurora's fears and urged her to consciousness.
She awoke to find herself in a room illuminated by the ever burning torch. She was lying in a slimy mess of vomit. Faces of her compatriots looked down at her all trying hard to look less disgusted and more concerned at Aurora's current state.
The niggling fact that Pelor wasn't immediately there upon her return worried Aurora greatly, as did the mewling dark that called out to her from the fringes of the lamplight.
After taking a moment to collect herself, Aurora turned to her companions.
"Gentlemen, I think we're in trouble"
